shoulder pain is quite common seen by physiotherapist. People often lift heavy object too far away from their body causing strain to the shoulder muscles. Repetitive shoulder movements can also cause wear and tear to the shoulder joint resulting in shoulder pain. Tear of rotator cuff muscles of the shoulder can cause shoulder pain. Other health conditions makes patient prone to shoulder pain. Stroke patients are likely to have shoulder joint dislocation due to weakness of shoulder joint muscles post stroke. Accident inwhich the shoulder is injured can cause shoulder pain.
physiotherapist will assess shoulder passive and active range of movement. Pain, sensation, muscle bulk/size. Special shoulder test will be done to identify muscles or ligament injured. X-ray may be required to rule out fracture.
